Is that a string of starlink satellites in the lower left? I like that you captured enough detail to see exactly where the Orion nebula is. Nice shot.

Interesting image (looking at it on Flickr). I haven't tried the K3III for Astro, for the little I have done (played at) I prefer my KP because of the flip screen. I note the stars in the center are spots but those at the edges have smeared. Is this due to lens distortion?

Thanks! I think that’s my tv tower?

It’s interesting, the dagger of Orion looks a lot like starlink or something.

Yeah it’s common to get these odd edges with wide angle lenses. It would have been fun to try this with a 35mm lens.

Great pic, with unusual perspective - you were above the birds?

Thanks K2 to K50 - I was on a point at the end of a breakwater slightly above the birds - they were riding the boundary between the wind and the more sheltered area behind.

Great nightscape! Interesting that the foreground doesn't look too blurry! is the new "no-gps" astrotracer better in that regard?

I can't see any way that Astrotracer can track stars without blurring stationary objects in the field of view. I think one of the modes is recommended for this kind of shot, where it minimises the tracking motion? The new "non-gps" mode takes a test image and measures the elongation of the stars, then adjusts the tracking to compensate.

More likely a flashing light on a plane?

Looks like an antenna tower to me.

You're right - obvious when viewed on Flickr, but not on the forum.

I think it's just that it wasn't that long of an exposure. I'll have to push the boundaries with it more in the future. It was quite cold out that night, I didn't stay out that long.
