Odd +/- read out

When I press the +/- button on the top of my K-3iii the top screen says +1 but the mark on the scale is on the zero point. On the back screen the flashing 1 is over the plus 1 mark.

Any idea why the discrepancy?

Many thanks, Kris.

What mode? I saw someone tweet that they noticed a bug with exposure compensation indication in one of the three places with steps set to 1/3.

Av mode. I very rarely use anything else. I have the EV steps set to 1/2 rather than the default of 1/3.

Thanks, Kris.

I will check later this afternoon or this evening, if no one else gets a chance to. I tried it when I posted, and mine stayed consistent. But my EV steps are in 1/3. I can change to 1/2 and see if I can reproduce the inconsistency.

I just tried putting it back to 1/3 steps and the read-out goes back to what one would expect. It would be good if others could check but I suspect it is a firmware bug.

Kris.

Yes, I can confirm that the EV compensation in the viewfinder and on the top LCD do not match the EV compensation on the back monitor when EV steps are set to half stops, at least in Av mode. The monitor on the back seems to be the accurate one. Hopefully this is the most severe firmware bug we find, because it’s pretty innocuous (if annoying).

Here’s the tweet I saw the other day that mentioned this: https://twitter.com/fukapon/status/1386289382643011590?s=21

Have you reported it to Ricoh tech support?

I tried last night, and the form told me it thought I was a spammer

Just tried again, and the report got through. I would encourage anyone else with a K-3 iii to report this as well, since it might expedite them pushing out a fix.

Firmware update 1.01 seems to have resolved this for me.
