From my K-3 III only perspective, the current order of the cards seems to make the most sense to me - so I'm glad they changed it :P
Agreed.

If shooting RAW+ that's the card most likely needing a swap-out, and the easiest to access with my SpiderPro strap on the camera. BTW, I wouldn't own a DSLR without one installed. They are just soooo secure and comfortable in hand, I've never had to worry about dropping mine. SpiderPro handstraps are commonly found on sale at half the retail price.

This programming made possible by me. Now back to our regularly scheduled discussion.

Ah yes. The page is long enough it was off the bottom of the screen... Doh! Thanks!
And no problems updating the firmware.

I was just logging in to ask some of my fellow Pentaxians for an assist. I tried at least a dozen times to update the firmware. Every step was done properly yet holding menu while booting resulted in a normal startup. Over and over. Trying another freshly formated card with the bin file in the root was the same. Nada. Was my camera defective??

So midway thru my first sentence for this post I thought I'd triple-check the file. Dang if i didn't not only once BUT TWICE download and extract the ....
K3 II file. I'm such a doofus.

And only two beers!
The camera is smarter than you!!!:

Just make sure when you download the next firmware update to make sure your computer hasnít added a sequence number if it sees the previous file in your download directory. Always seems to forget to delete the old copies first and end up having to rename the file.

About time they fixed this!

Another thing to like about the K-13 III. I assume the K-1 III and the 645z II (if the Excel spreadsheet still says an ROI is worth it for medium format) will continue this.

I'd update immediately. No point shooting with a firmware version Ricoh are unhappy with!
The problem will be that I suspect I will need to drive to the local courier location to pick it up if I don't happen to be at home at the time they come. I'm getting my new SD cards on the same trip. I guess I could download the new firmware on an old SD card and have it ready but you should never put new wine in old wineskins (or something like that) so I suspect the shots I take on my way home will be "adequate".

As long as the “older” card has been formatted in the new K3iii there shouldn’t be any issues unless previously had issues.

I am still getting used to this new menu system. Coming from Canon, I really wish Pentax adds a "My Menu" setting.

You can do a lot of customizing of things on the info screen, which saves from rooting around in the menus a lot of the time. The only thing I find myself routinely needing from the menu system that canít be on the info screen is format. However, they now put that in a really easy spot at the top of a menu section.

I updated the firmware on mine. I can't notice any difference because I updated as soon as I got the camera. It did seem to update a lot faster than the recent K3 and KP firmware updates I just did.

I just updated my firmware but at first it wasn't working and thought something was wrong with the camera. Then I saw that with this camera, unlike the K1, and other K3's the positioning of the memory cards are reversed. Slot one in the K3 iii is where #2 is in the other cameras. :-)
