Just a thought, does your "sound" occur with no lens fitted?
On my KP, my Sigma 150-500mm makes (or causes) "waking up noises" occasionally, but I've not noticed this happening on my K-3iii (yet).
No. Only with the 18-135 mounted.

Cool! So it might be something related to the lens. Part of start-up on K-3, KP and K-1 is to home the stepping motor of the aperture mechanism. The sound made while doing that is pretty subtle and not like what you recorded. What is the view through the viewfinder like if it does this with the 18-135 mounted and lens cap off?

Normal. No difference between when it does it and when it doesn't. I suspect this may remain a mystery.

Steve, I suspect what is happening is something internal with the body and not lens related. I get the same sound with a screw drive mounted, a 55-300 PLM which is KaF4 and no lens mounted at all. With the PLM mounted the focusing element seems to move slightly but with the screw drive DA 35 Ltd it doesn't. For those concerned about strange noises I think it is a normal startup sound of this particular camera body.

For that case, is the mirror moving?

I've experienced a very intermittent "no response" from the shutter button, requiring a switch off/on to get it going again. The latest was yesterday afternoon, but as yet I've no indication of a pattern to the events. Inevitably, their was a subject I wanted to photograph, so I wasn't about to sit down and examine if there were any indications of what was going on, had I pressed a button accidently or similar, I just wanted to take the picture!
I've experienced this too - the camera simply becomes unresponsive to the shutter button and the back AF button. Turning it off seems to take a little longer too - it leaves the top LCD display on for ~5 sec before shutting off completely. Turning it back on returns it to normal.

Just got my K-3III. Tested it with my small collection of lenses. All working fine except one - D-FA 100mm Macro screw drive. It is difficult to lock focus using OVF, but is fine in LV. I tested that lens with my K-5IIs and it is working fine. I believe it is a firmware bug and hope it is resolved soon.

Have you done the firmware update?

Yes. Of course. I need to add that the rest are SDM and DC lenses. This is the only screw drive lens left.

Are others hearing it too? Any ideas what it could be? It is certainly not associated with dust removal, as I tried turning that off.
I have it with my DFA 150-450 on my KP and K3III but not my K1... my noise is louder... and it is the aperture blades.

When flash comp is assigned to Smart Function, the Smart Function dial can only set +0.5 and +1.0. To select other values, I have to do it at the rear LCD panel after pressing the S.Fn button.
