I bracket for HDR a lot, but don’t use the in-camera HDR. (Pretty sure you can’t use HDR for video.) HDR is useful when you have a lot of shadow detail and a lot of highlight detail and not much in between. If your histogram looks like a U and clips on both ends, then that’s a good time to use HDR.
However, the histograms you see in-camera are for the JPEG, and the dynamic range of the K-3 iii is sufficiently good that my “bracketing for HDR” is increasingly turning into just “bracketing to pick the exposure that doesn’t really clip so I can move the shadows and highlights sliders in Lightroom”.
