Thanks, Kobie. Good and honest review.
I love my new mk III. It is a good upgrade from my K-3...but honestly that is also a very nice camera.
I remember the stories about the development of the mk III OVF. They were striving for FF optics and were working on an all-new glass. The penta-prism production was causing issues and they had to move that back to Japan. All of that HAD to cost money...
So the new OVF is beautiful but I kind of understand why the price tag went to $2K.
Perhaps this caused them to omit the flip screen on the back. Perhaps didn't want to inflate cost any further?
This camera is still superb and I will be its student for quite some time.
Kobie, keep making those videos which helps my learning curve!

I'd guess (and had assumed) that the camera always takes an un-cropped picture, then crops it if asked, to save on card space.
If this is the case, taking a cropped picture becomes a two-stage operation and could be assumed to take longer to complete.
That's what I was thinking too. It must be chopping the photo down to crop size and that interferes with buffering operations.
Good to know. I will avoid crop mode in high speed shooting.
