dose anyone . think or feel that there might be a price drop on the k-3-iii for the holidays, I know they have a promotion with the battery grip right now but would rather save a little on the camera :-)?

I would not be surprised if there was not some promotion when sales slow a bit.
There have been some used K3iii for sale also, at a significant discount.

My preferred Pentax dealer have a 20% price drop on K3 III right now.

I don't think it's going to get any lower.

Both B&H & Adorama are currently adding the grip for free.

They also have some discounts with lenses. Like for example, you can get the black K-3III, grip, & DA Limited 40mm lens for $2,297 from B&H. If you bought all that separately right now, you'd pay about $2,641.

As always, the answer to this question is "we'll have to wait and see". Last year there were some modest deals on flagship camera models (savings up of up to €200 in Europe and a free $200 gift card in the US) and given the K-3 III's high price, I would personally speculate that there is room for an incentive.

Late last week we did get a free grip deal on the K-3 III; we could end up seeing this this being paired with a rebate or a free GC. Or, this could be as low as it goes for now:

I did see from Ricoh that they have a refurbished one for 1599. any thoughts?

Another thing to consider is the slowdown of imported goods. There could be a shortage of electronics goods, including cameras for the holidays unless the shipping backups are resolved. If that's the case, dealers won't have much of an incentive to drop prices.

I did not expect to get one and if I did not get what I wanted, I was not going to buy it at the introductory price

I expected after 6 months or so the price of the K 3 III to be reduced

So far, as far as I know, no reduction in base price but some " specials " if one gets the battery grip or perhaps a lens
