Have they ever kitted a Limited lens before?

The closest thing I can think of is the version of the 40 Ltd that was included with the K-01. Other than that I can't think of any examples.

They should have done this from the very beginning. It's about time and a good pairing

I’m pretty sure that was the 40xs, not the limited.

It's intentional management of the demand I think. They start with the model at full price and a premium kit to get whet they can from the early adopters, then they do carefully timed offers to sweeten the deal for others, such as throwing the battery grip in for free and coming out with kits. Then there are some limited editions later on. I've noticed this with the last few model releases. This is why I was reluctant to be an early adopter in this case.

Yes. I know. But it was based on the 40 Ltd, so it's the closest thing I can think of and perhaps the only digital-era camera from Pentax to come with a prime kitted.

Dealers created kits using the da 20-40 with the KP:

I’m guessing these dealer kits didn’t have as good of a discount and they likely came in two boxes.

That's good, the 20-40 pairs well with the k33 body.

Yes - from what I understand it's the exact same optical formula but the XS doesn't have quickshift. Same lens, different body.

I was jealous I couldn't afford the battery grip along with my K-3 III (still can't).
I would have been even more green if there was a lens available kit too

This is a very good combo - my 20-40 Limited is always in my bag or on the camera. Coupled with the 55-300 PLM and it is a versatile 2 lens WR travel kit.

That was not a 40mm Ltd but the specially designed 40mm XS. It had the same glass and specs according to Pentaxforum's test for the 40mm's and the 35mm f2.4 I believe. It was not based on the 40mm Ltd at all. Its design was from Mark Newson and Pentax put the glass in. Optics are nearly the same as the SMC DA 40 . The only difference is that some claim the XS has rounded aperture blades, the physical packaging and the lack of a focusing scale. The differences are fairly unimportant.

you are quite right. But even in the comparison on this forum the reviewers are not so certain about it being the same, so yes, nearly the same.
