USB C external charging

I just realized the k3 III had a handy function, you can charge USB C gear with it! My iPhone has a USB C cable, I’m currently charging it in an airport using my K3 III.

This is a pretty simple post but I hope it helps someone out if they’re in a similar situation.

First of all, I think you wrote the most important word wrong ;-)
Charge... not change.

And, honestly speaking : this feature is no secret.
It's also mentioned in the manual.

And discussed to great length on the Forum even before the camera was released.

Thanks, I did not know I could charge my phone using the camera as a power bank. I have read the manual more than once. Missed this.

It's also marked in a "attention" grey box in the Manual. And has a dedicated Index with page number in the end of it.

Let's not stray from the topic and allow the conversation to degrade into an argument please.

I for one did NOT know of this feature even after reading the manual several times. So thank you OP for the post.

While I knew about it when I first looked into getting the K3III I had totally forgotten about it until the OP brought it up. IMO it's a fair reminder of something I would have used on the way to a shoot about a month ago when I realized I had left the spare batteries behind.

Thanks

Ah thanks, updated my typo.

It was a secret to me or I’d forgotten? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Glad it could help people out. It’s really saving me this trip!

I find it handy. It uses the same connection as our cell phones and tablet, so it's convenient to top it off after some intermittent use without digging out the charger.

Somewhat related: I have a feeling that this rubber flap over the usb connection can not last heavy usage. Those of you charging the battery internally, how well does this flap work after a year of usage?

Thanks for the reminder. Useful lifeboat for phone charging.

Safe travels.

If I remember correctly, my iPhone charger won’t work with my stand-alone KP charger; Apple is idiosyncratic that way, so you would need a standard usb power source in any case. I found one and took it with me to charge both my iPhone and Q-7 batteries when I took a train to San Diego in 2016, when space was a premium.
