Help! I'm trying to do something for the first time, and it's not working. My attempts to pair my K-3lll with my iPhone are all hitting the same roadblock. After turning on Active Mode in the Wireless LAN setting, Image Sync tells me to enter the device name of the camera. The button is prefilled with "Pentax_". Under Communications Info, I read that my camera is Pentax_CD16EC. Every time I enter the six-letter code to ID the camera, I get the error message "Unable to find the camera. Check the Device Name." I don't know what else to try next.

Do you have version 2.1.7 or later? Also try updating the firmware on your K-3 iii if not already at the latest release.

Both are fresh and updated. Camera has FW 1.41, and I just got Image Sync last week.

Can you just select the PENTAX_ and tap it, without filling in anything?

You turn on the camera's Active Mode, then you get your *phone* to join its WiFi network, named 'Pentax_CD16EC' in your case. It will need the password listed under Communications Info to join (otherwise, anyone near you could).

You should see a blue tick in your Wifi settings.

Then start the Image Sync app.

Basic Q, do you have bluetooth on your phone turned on right?

For what it's worth, I never did any config beyond turning on the wifi setting on the K3iii. I wonder if you could try resetting your camera settings to factory defaults?

By chance, I had the same problem this week when i switched phone.
And searched PentaxForums

And found K-3 III image sync bluetooth woes [Solved - Samsung settings issue] - PentaxForums.com
Has to do with "on some Samsung phones you need to explicitly set Apps not optimised to include ImageSync".

So maybe this can give the solution.
