If using the shutter button for focusing, then a 3-wire remote (almost all of them are). Like the shutter button, a half-push activates the auto-focus and the full push completes the shutter circuit. At least this is almost every other camera regardless of brand.

That's why I asked the OP where this has been claimed.

There's a lot of bad information on the Internet, us Pentaxians don't have a need for more of it.
