Problem with firmware

I get this error:

"The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “fwdc233b.bin” can’t be read or written.
(Error code -36)"

I have used two different formatted cards. The camera still operates on FW 160.

Sounds like the file or card is corrupt. I would download the firmware again and try it on a different card.

I did download the file again as well. Both cards seem to work well otherwise.

The error tells that fwdc233b.bin file is missing on card. Which computer do you use to download firmware: PC or MAC? Can you show screen shot of the command prompt of the card after file is copied to the card? Should be something like this:

Did you format the SD cards in your camera or on your Mac? I'd recommend doing it in the camera, not the Mac. I also use macOS 13.0.1 and had no problems. Since you've got the .bin, you obviously were able to unzip the file successfully on your Mac. I formatted the SD card in my camera (K-3III), inserted the formatted SD card into the Mac and copied the .bin file to it. Then inserted the SD card into the camera, as instructed, and was able to install the firmware without any errors. Also, I recommend using an SD card that is at least 8GB.

I would agree that formatting the card in the camera that is going to utilize it prior to doing the update is a wise idea. Also make sure the bin file is in the root directory of the sd card and that it is not in a folder so that the camera will easily recognize it.

All is good again. Before I saw the three above posts I re-formatted the sd card in the camera (as I had done previously), got rid of all current downloaded material and started over. Copied the bin file to the root drive, it showed up in the DCIM folder. I put the card back in the camera and vwala...it worked. I'm now updated to V. 170! Now, I just need to get my but out and shoot. Thank you all-your mental energy did the trick!!!
