Someone else was disputing the status of the Cebu plant.

Thank you to all who responded.

It's pretty much the bodies from the Phillipines, the lenses from Vietnam.

Interesting - I have a *ist DS, K-x, K-7 and K-5 IIs that say Assembled in Philippines. Only the K-3 III says Made in the Philippines.

The DS is going to be worth big bucks someday because it's made by PENTAX.

I think that's in line with current international standards for consumer labelling, such as the EU.

You don't have to source all your parts from one country, it's where it's all put together that gets the 'Made In' sticker, AFAIK.

The $10,000 Pinarello racing bicycles are considered made in Italy, even if almost all carbon fibre for bikes is sourced from one of several Taiwanese factories.

I'm assuming that almost anything electrical manufactured anywhere today contains wiring and components from China.

It's tragically funny how such a short common phrase has been used over time and has to be continually defined to mean something close to what it implies. I like this one - no country required.
