Hello,
There is an old saying in the automotive world: "Fill your library before filling your garage". It basically means to do your research and be sure you know your subject before spending your money. That can be applied to everything in life.
One aspect of camera collecting I love is not only to use vintage gear, but to learn about it. Technical advancements, back stories, its place history, people involved, etc.
For the Pentax world I have several books but the most important is "The definitive ASAHI PENTAX Collector's guide 1952-1977" by our forum member Gerjan van Oosten. Quite possibly the most exquisite and beautiful book in my library.
A must have for Pentax enthusiasts!
But as you know, I also have a soft spot for vintage (Pre-Pentax) Kodak stuff. The story of Kodak is rich and fascinating. One of the most sought after reference books on Kodak cameras was written by Brian Coe in the late 80's. Who is this guy? Just the Kodak's museum curator from 1969 to 1985. He really knows his stuff.
I've been looking for one for a while now but collector's prices are insane. So I was able to track down a slightly worn copy in decent usable shape. Even better: my sister paid for it as my Christmas gift!
Not in mint condition but it is complete. After all, I want to use it extensively, not display it.
Over 300 pages packed full of information.
Now I can bore you even more with my posts!
Thanks,
Ismael
