360FGZ Adapter/Trigger Issue

I have a real dilema on my hands.

I have purchased the 360FGZ, a set of Ebay Triggers, and a standard hot-shoe to PC adapter. I, for the most part, cannot get the trigger to fire the flash. What really baffles me is the "for the most part".

The triggers work, and the hotshoe adapter works as they were both tested with another flash. The 360 is refusing to work, except for after I had played with it a bit. I have no idea what I did, but I was just using a jumper to make sure the flash would fire from center pin to outer ring pin. Then I noticed the little flat nose pin that pops out when you turn the lock, and was jump firing it off that as well.

After playing with the pins for a bit, I put the flash back on the adapter, and test fired the trigger and it worked. Over and over and over again. I stopped to write an email to a gentleman that was having the same issue, to let him know I got it to work but had no idea what I did, and when I got back to the flash it had auto-powered down. I turned it back on, and poof, it stopped again.

This is driving me crazy. Does anyone know what you have to do to get the 360 to work with a standard hot shoe adapter or do I have to go spend $50 on a Pentax made adapter?

Fixed the problem, and this should help anyone that wants to use their 360FGZ with an Ebay trigger system.

First, buy a 360FGZ, a 16ch YH (Ebay) Trigger Set, and a basic (~$10) Hot Shoe to PC connector.

Using a multimeter, verify that the adapter(connector) is wired properly. The center of the PC plug should have 0 resistance to the center of the shoe, and the same for the outer plug and shoe.

Now do a search for the receiver hack. It basically says open up the receiver and on the small component just below the switch box, jump the pins across from each other.

Now, using a multimeter again, check the PC port on the receiver, this time for voltage when fired. If you check it with the positive side to the center, you should get a small spike on the multimeter when the trigger is fired. If you don't, or you get a negative swing, then you need to do the next step (which is were everyone seemed to have their issue).

Open the receiver back up, and swap the lines on the back of the PC plug. Just unsolder them and resolder them backwards.

You should now have no trouble using your 360FGZ (or possibly other flashes with issues) with the Ebay triggers.

**NOTE**

I am on my way out the door, but when I get back I am going to grab another receiver and just swap the lines to the PC plug. My cheap multi doesn't register voltage on the PC with a standard (non-hacked) receiver, but I am guess that they are going to be wired the same. If it works, without having to use the jump-hack, that makes it an even easier fix. I will post what I find here.
