Pentax D-BG3 is lame!

I'm planning to buy this grip but I have to say this is a pretty lame grip.
No e-dials, no green button, no Av button.
What do I need an extra AE-L for? I rarely use it.

I think Pentax should allow switch the AE-L to green button's function.

And the sad part is that this is the only grip for K200D.
Shame on you Pentax

Maybe you should be greatful a grip even exists for this camera? There is no grip for the K-m and K-x...
Plus it's cheap, and it does work very well in terms of ergonomics.

I love my BG3, it does wonders for the already good ergonomics of the K200D. Yes, the AE-L button is useless & a green button would be far preferable (especially for my M lenses) & a higher-grade version with a dial & maybe some other buttons would be nice. But a weather-resistant, well built grip for vertical shooting & doubling battery life at this price is great. Have you seen the price of the grip for the K7?

And have you seen the Canikon grips that have a huge stick-out bit to insert in the battery hole of the camera & make sure that you canīt carry the grip in a pocket when itīs off the camera?

Complaining about it in this thread, but looking for it in another?! All this for a grip that is at least 3 years old too. While it is alittle more expensive now, this grip was at one point for sale new for $20-30 - well worth that price. If I needed/wanted one, the $60-70 you'll be paying for one now is still worth the money, just for the extra camera life and ergonomics of having a grip.

I can't see why Pentax didn't decide to adjust the BG2 for K200D also.
Or why didn't they make the AE-L button a universal one, so you could choose what do you want it to do (from the menu or something)

I wish the BG2 worked on the K-7, but companies do need to make money!

The AE-L button function being universal is an excellent suggestion, but the k200 is long retired and more than likely never getting a replacement (even if there were, it wouldn't use the same body - meaning on the slim chance there is ever a replacement you'll be ponying up for the BG5!).

Well they can do it in a firmware update.
All we need to do is a petition

Don't get started with the firmware updates! That has already been done to death. Pentax does one update to fix known issues within several months of camera release, that is it.

I wouldn't say that, for it's price, it is a great addition to the K200D, gives it balance, doubles the power, and gives some basic shooting controls ... simple, and effective ...

Hey.
I just got my DBG3.

2 things:

1. Is the on/off button should turn the camera on/off or just the grip?
2. Canon BG-E3 is wayy better.

thanks.

switch should be for grip on/off only (is with my bg-2). Good for Canon.
