Metal hoods and transporting lenses...

So I recently picked up metal screw-in hoods for my older manual focus lenses (mostly Tokina). I keep those lenses in a separate camera bag with a manual body or two. I don't really have room in that bag for the hoods though, and I imagine I need something to cushion them if I store them together, so they don't scratch each other up. What do people use/recommend?

Metal hoods

Can you reverse the hood and slide it over either the front or the back of the lens?
A rubber band or two would keep it in position.

A bigger bag with foam dividers. Really, what else can you do?

One of the lenses is a 17mm, another 28mm, and another 28-70mm, so those hoods are wide and pretty large, no way to practically reverse and slide them over.

Not sure how practical that would be... five hoods, three of which are for wide-angle lenses, would consume a lot of dividers and thus require a very big bag.

Maybe I should just look into some sort of other case or small bag, one where I can make my own foam dividers, just to carry the hoods in.

Well, that is not really practical either - you now have two bags :-)

The dividers don't have to be fancy. Maybe soft pouches would work - but you'll still likely need another bag.

That's why I'm using this kind of hood for all of my prime lenses (except for the DA* 15mm, which has a built-in hood). They takes almost no space, and provide great protection for the lenses. I found that they don't work well with zooms, however. For the zooms, I use the supplied petal-shaped hoods, or collapsible rubber hoods.
