As you may know, we feature a database of Pentax accessories on our site, located here: PentaxForums.com Photo Software and Pentax Accessory Review Database - Accessory Listings (and also accessible via the "cameras" button in the navbar)

However, users haven't been using this section much, and we feel that the categorization is flawed as well. Do you guys have any suggestions as far as that goes, or any general suggestions to improve and expand this section?

A lot of entries are still missing from the database, but we are working hard on adding them If anyone is willing to help with any particular section, please contact me!

Ok, maybe others will admit this or stay in the closet but I would have used it a lot more if either I remembered it existed, or it was a menu header like Cameras and Lenses are. I'm not saying it should be a menu header if the use is low but if 50% of the members have as many dead brain cells as me that might account for low usage.

My impression is that it simply is not cleanly enough organized:

1) Maybe better to move away all 3rd party stuff, stick to genuine Pentax items first (just think of thousands of tripods and filters!!!).

2) Limit it to 35mm accessories, all those 6x7 and more should find a separate place with it own subsections (as bodies and lenses do have).

3) Create a section for digital-relevant only items (like software, cleaning stuff or batteries - did not exist as brand-specific items in those film days, did they?).

4) Take a look into an old Pentax accessories catalogue - they have a clear and well designed organisation: lenses, lens accessoires like hoods and filters, close-up and macro stuff etc. etc.

5) Is it supervised/moderated? For example, I do find the 6x7 helicoid extension tube under 'Miscellaneous', but of course it fits better into 'Extension tubes'

6) Most Pentax items had a unique identifier number, many of them you can see on B. Dinitrov's pages under the 'catalogue number' entries. This would be a helpful additional information! These are NOT serial numbers, of course.

Would this help making it more attractive?

Thanks for the suggestions! Those are more in-depth and we won't be able to implement them until after the summer, but they will help improve the DB overall, IMO. Especially the added info.
