K-7 grip problem!

Hello,
I've recently bought k-7 and the original battery grip (D-BG4) for it, which doesn’t seem to work. I'm attaching it to the camera correctly. The battery is fully charged and is in the grip (no battery in camera). The camera works, that means it uses the battery in the grip, but the grip itself shows no signs of life. The on/off/shutter release button does not work (the camera can not be turned on or fired with it), the rest of buttons do not work either. Am I missing something here and doing something wrong, or the grip is broken?

Firstly, make sure the camera is on. The battery grip will not function if the camera is not turned on.
