72mm adapter ring for Sunpak DX-12r?

Hi, I have a Sunpak DX-12r ring flash & I need a 72mm adapter ring for my Sigma 180mm macro lens. I can't find these anywhere & was hoping that maybe someone had an idea how I could piece one together or hack up something to make it work. It's basically a 72mm male thread on a thin "base" that may be around 77mm in diameter. I don't think that a regular step up ring would work so I'm out of ideas. Thanks! George
