SMC

been checking out various filters and see the term "SMC" refenced beside the filter ??..can i show me ignorance and ask what this stands for??..

super multi coating. it's a treatment the glass gets to keep flares nearly non-existant.

It's just like attack said.. If you look at a Hoya chart it might help a little.. For instance there are non-coated filters (not usually recommended for dSLR), single-coated filters, multi-coated filters and filters coated on both sides.

I've had great luck in reducing flare common on some older non-coated lenses buy using multi-coated filters, FYI.

Just been having a squizz on ebay regarding a "Hoya" Pro1 Dogotal Polarising Filter..
Is there a difference between normal polarising filters and filters for digital camera's?? where's the difference lay??...Besides price lol..

Typically speaking, a filter for digital cameras will be coated, multi-coated or coated on both sides.

In the interest of quality - Search my recent posts and you will see a trhead with sample images from a cheap CPL and a Hoya Pro CPL.. Don't cheap out on a CPL.
