I received my RF 602's last Thursday morning, only 1 week to be delivered to a country town in Australia, pretty happy with that.
I got the Canon version trigger and 3 receivers from hkyongnuophotoequipment, they work well up to 1/125 and then the trigger button has to be held in while shooting at 1/160-1/180 to get a shot without the shutter curtain shadow. Thats not a problem though, can just tape it down if I need to. Will also order a YH 560 flash soon but waiting on a light/flash stand & mount & a couple of umbrellas first. Will just use my Metz 48 for now and borrow a Canon 220 ex. The flash voltage has to be under 6 volt I think to use with the RF 602's so no damage is done to them.

I'm trying to decide between the YN-460II, YN-560, and the SB24~28 range.

According to speedlights.net, the YN560 doesn't reach its GN of 39, and is more like 33! So the SB's appear to have the advantage with 36. They also get auto-thyristor, if I ever decide to use that.

The SB's don't have optical slave, which could be useful in not having to buy more wireless Rx, as long as they are close enough or the ambient light is low, correct?

Only other downside is I hear the YN's may not have the best quality control, and it costs $25 in shipping to send it back for warranty.

And then for the YN-460II... zoom doesn't seem as important after thinking about it, since I have a P-TTL zoom flash and snoot/grids seem to look better than the odd zoom oval.

Maybe 1 of each of the YN's...

My friend that shoots Canon 5dmkII with his 85 1.2L uses this flash with an Orbis beauty dish. It's a big endorsement in my book, since he's not afraid of spending money on gear.

There is no AF assist light (or auto-thyristor for that matter). Purely manual.
