Manfrotto 234rc

If you have a long lense, I use 50-500 on a mono pod, and have difficulty in taking shots up or down quickly try this head unit. I found it to be just the trick as it can swivel in either direction quickly. Great for motorsport.

the problem is that it only specs out to 5.5 pounds for support. no way i'll put my DS and a 300/2/8 on it..

I am considering the 322RC2 myself. It should carry 5 kg (I think it's about 11 pounds?), so you could consider that one, but as said I have not any experience of it yet. I have 055C for tripod and was also planning a monopod setting with 322RC2 and 679B monopod. I dont have any heavy lenses though. Any comment?

I have a Manfrotto 055 tripod with a 115 super 3D head on it. This works out very well for me. I like it because I can control either axis separately.

I also have a 681 monopod with the 234rc head on it. The head works ok with heavy gear. The problem is that you have to support it as its not made for much weight. I wouldn't recommend it for heavy gear.

This is an option. The 393 gimbaled head is made for monopods, but works equally well with tripods. I would have gotten one if I wasn't so satisfied with the super 3D head.
