Pentax "photo lupe" 5.5x magnif?

Has anyone got one of these?
What is it used for?
Is it a worthwhile accessory?

Loupes are used to magnify slides or negatives that are backlit on a light table, or to check focus on ground glass on a view camera.

Unless you use a view camera or shoot film, you have no need for one. That is, unless you have a morbid curiosity as to how Epson fits so many dots onto "glicee" prints.

I use mine to check 21/4 and larger negs.

On 'bay, there's a listing for a Loreo Lens in cap that you can use a loupe as a macro lens:

I found it amusing that a $25 micro lens to make a DSLR a P&S combined with a loupe to make it also a macro.
