Leave them both in, all the time, only out for charging. Which is the same thing I do with all my cameras, mobile phones, mp3 players and other battery driven electronics.

Most batteries today are very well built and seldom leak if left in a device indefinately. However, manufacturers often recommend removing batteries from devices not used for several months since long discharged batteries, due to internal chemical changes, tend to leak far more often then fully or partially charged batteries. Further, removing a battery lessens the power drain on the battery, lengthening the time before the battery becomes fully discharged (and hence prone to leakage). Given all this, I would recommend leaving the battery in unless the camera is going to be stored away for several months (over the winter months or between vocations, for example).

Long neglected batteries also tend to leak during or right after the first two or three recharges, so pay particular attention to this once you start using the camera again. However, this may not be much of an issue since the chemical changes within a long neglected battery will often render it entirely unuseable (unable to recharged fully and unable to hold a charge).

Thank you, feel much better leaving them in now and will have to rotate the batteries making sure both get same usage and recharge...
Cheers
