There seems to be some 3rd party batteries available. They're discussed in Accessories section in this thread.

I thought I'd post it here too in case you missed it

Ebay.de has a battery for 12.80eur (+5 for shipping to Finland) I bought one of these

And another one for 18.90eur (+9.90 s&h to Finland)

And the charger (with car-kit) for 16.99eur (+9.90 s&h to Finland)

All these have free shipping in Germany

And interestingly they list it as compatible with Pentax K-2??

Posting here because your title makes more sense than the other one (and it is K-r specific):

Another third party battery option is batteryupgrade.com: d-li - BatteryUpgrade.com : Upgrade your battery!. I've ordered one from there last night. Spec is only 900mAh though, compared with 1400 on that ebay one, which surprises me a little as I would have thought they would be coming from the same factory.

That's odd? It might be an error but the label on the battery in the pic clearly says 900 mAh. And I've been thinking 1100 is too little.

My new battery arrived from Germany today. The brand is "Digital Battery" and there is no mention about the mAh capacity. It didn't burst into flames while charging and seems to work OK. So far I'm happy.
