K7 and K5 using iPOD Touch as a viewer?

I thought I had seen something in that line in a recent photo magazine:

Using an iPOD Touch as a viewer when mounted on a Pentax cemra (in my case that would be the K7).

Has anyone heard of this or seen it somewhere?

Thanks.

JP

ShutterSnitch App

This uses an Eye Fi. Never heard of attaching an iPod directly to a camera.

Thanks Boris.

Nice little app.
No mention if Pentax cameras are compatible.
Do you know if it is?

As for connecting anIPod to the camera, there has to be a way of doing it, no?
Same goes for an iPad ... after all, those are more or less like a TV screen?

with Itunes app.appx $20.00 + onone software DSLR camera remote(free) and your iPod touch,iPhone or iPad you can tether your camera using the above as remote control.

Hi Kryss.

Which iTune app do you mean? Is this the ShutterSnitch app?
I did check with OnOne, the freeware (actually I think they now want $8.00 for it); would this work with Pentax?

Hi JP, I only watched videos on ononesoftware.com/university/ especially Dave cross in studio and basketball shoot, select DSLR camera remote page and watch videos, sent email to onone re Pentax and not received reply yet but I do not see why not.Camera via usb to computer and itunes app,& then dslr camera remote uses ad hoc wifi between ipod touch etc and computer to use as remote and it appears to do everything required in tethering.

onOne DSLR Remote only supports Canon and Nikon cameras.

DSLR Camera Remote Technical Specifications - onOne Software

Pentax cameras can use ShutterSnitch if they have a compatible Eye-Fi card.

ShutterSnitch App - Wireless solutions

You can connect an iPad to a computer with the camera connection kit or a third part solution. There is no way for the iPod to interface with the connector in software that I know of.

why don't Pentax get together with onone and/or Apple instead of finding a new software guru, Nikon and Canon have no problems with their cameras(is it software or hardware that stops Pentax having tethering?)if not resolved soon my money will go to Canon as I have some rather expensive FD lens as well as tons of pentax Glass and I will not have a problem with my Tamron lenses.Wake up Hoya and get the K5 TETHERED.

I thought I should point out that you cannot use FD glass on Canon digital...

Thanks to all of the answers folks.

Sadly though, I thought one could just use this iPod as a viewer and not necessarily for being able to "tether", much like a separate and larger monitor which you could attach to the camera.

Of course, tethering has been a hot discussion for the past several months and I don't see the point of further discussing this here.
However, I agree that Pentax should at least get in gear and at least make the K7and K5 do it.

I guess my only other option is to get one of these:

smallHD launches external HD monitor for DSLRs

This one could be a best buy:

This last one is out of the question of course (price !!!) but it gives an idea of what I am looking for.

Cheers.

If you want to use FD glass on digital you would do much better buying an EVIL. Of course EVILs don't do tethering either.

To correct the statement, you can't have FD glass on an EOS body without altering the lens mount, losing infinity or using a optical adaptor (which acts as a mild teleconverter)

Alright you guys, take your FD glass/EOS/EVIL stuff outa here!
(Nothing personal but this should go to some other forums)

Just get me some advice on finding/getting/setting up an external monitor which will show everything that normally shows on the camera rear monitor.

Cheers.
