Bag Recommendation Needed...

Hi all,

I need to find a new camera/laptop bag. I read some old threads on the subject and found one that might fit my needs. The Lowepro CompuRover AW

Lowepro - CompuRover AW

was mentioned and I think it might be big enough. I have a 17" laptop that is pretty tall (has feet on the bottom for better airflow underneath), a Toshiba X205-S9359 so the laptop compartment needs a little more room than what a standard 17" laptop would fit in. Just wondering about opinions/experiences with this bag.

The other thing I'm looking for is a separate day type bag to carry a few items in like a couple of lenses, flash, etc. At this point I'll probably go the vest route as I'm going to Italy the beginning of next month for a week or so.

The ideal solution (and I don't know if this exists or not) would be a bag big enough to hold the large 17" laptop, camera equipment, and a few odds and ends but with the camera section detachable to use as a day bag. Does anyone know of something like this. Also something that will fit in the overhead compartment on flights.

Thanks in advance for any advice or recommendations.

Slick

I have the Lowepro Compurover AW - I like it - it is very big and can fit a 17 inch laptop - check the dimensions listed on the Lowepro site to see if it will fit your laptop specifically though. The bag is still quite comfortable though even though it is very large and the weight distributes nicely too. However, I don't use it for day trips generally as I have other bags for that but as an all purpose bag that will cover laptop, ample space for camera gear and space for misc. stuff it serves its purpose well.

Also if you need a detachaeable daybag type thing Lowepro have one called Orion or something like that but I don't think it takes laptops unfortunately - you can double check on their site though.

I have tbe baby brother, computrekker AW, and a dell 17 inch wide screen.

It ALMOST fits, i can get it in th ebag but not fully zip the top, it gets hung up on one corner of the laptop. It still does OK for what I need, specifically if I have to pack my laptop, but on my last 2 vacations, I learned to NOT take the computer.

I actually like that better, except that you can't really judge the photo's even on the 2 1/2 inch screen of the K10D.

I am looking at using my PDA for that. the PDA is a lot smaller and memory is so inexpensive now days, just load up on 1 or 2 GP chips, last 3 1 GB chips I bought were $50 (CDN) for 3 of them
