Where are battery grip serial numbers located?

I notice some folk have included serial numbers for their Pentax Battery Grip D-BG2.

I can't find any numbers on mine (box or product) where are they.

Should be engraved in the grip on the side that attaches to the camera.

I sold my D-BG2 ages ago, and if I remember correctly, the battery grip does not have a serial number. But, as you said, there are people in the serial number database that have entered numbers, so that's a bit odd.

I just went through this myself. I was expecting to find the number engraved somewhere but no joy on that. Eventually, I found a number stamped (inked) in a very suspect location. Remove the battery holder, hold the D-BG2 with the (removed) battery holder up and the bottom towards you, look across the opening at the lip edge. You will probably need to move the grip around to spot the blue/black inked number. The number I found is 273304. The odd part is that when I entered that number into the database, it bounced back saying that number was already taken. Since my number is hard to read (at least the second 3 is questionable) I entered it as 273804. Unfortunately, the UPC label was cut away on the box for a rebate after purchase so I couldn't confirm the number anywhere. I couldn't find any other number anywhere on it.

Well, that *is* an 8, that's why. Compare it to the 3. Different.

I can only read 3 of 6 numbers at best on mine - but I did find the rubber plug for the camera body that I knew I had somewhere.

In person it looks more like a 3. Even my wife called it a 3 without me prompting her.
