Remote assistant for k100d

Did anyone ever find out how to use remote assistant with the k100d. I got it to work but i still get distorted pictures when not looking at them thru Pentax viewer. Thanks.

Remote assistant is not designed for the K100D. It was designed for the semi-pro istD and K10D models. Higher end models cost more because they have more features, and this is one of them.

I am surprised you even got it to work at all with the K100D! (I learn something new every day.)

I thought that it wouldn't work either Chickenhawk, but a quick google search proved me wrong.

Sorta works

Actually i read on a thread a while back that it works but only to an extent. Everything works fine. You can even view the photo in Pentax viewer. But if you convert it to jpeg the picture distorts. so i was just curious if anyone has it working better at all.

it works, somewhat...

You need to use Remote Assistant Ver 1. Also, I find that the system would sometimes freeze when I had Assistant set to Buffer Select and Auto Save mode. I also had Photo Labratory open at the same time, so that could have been the issue.

I ended up with Remote Assistant 1 open along side Picasa. That seemed to work the best.

If you understand that you're not going to get full functionality out of RA, then you should be good.

Remote Assistant version 1.0 works with my K100D (firmware 1.02). Two settings are required though:
  • The quality must be set to RAW. The Assistant always saves a .PEF file and if the quality is not RAW, only thre preview image works but you get garbage as the main image content.
  • The instant preview must be set to "Off". If I leave it at my normal setting "5 sec", the operation is unreliable.
I also use the combination of "Auto Save" and Picasa which results in a direct display of the image after a short transfer delay.

Greetings to all K-7 users.

Version 1 works on my K100D super, I think they are about the same except for the dust removal and the SDM compatibility.

Sorry for ressurecting the tread, just whanted to confirm K100ds does in fact work with the Pentax Camera remote V1... doing a little time-laps project here and using an old PC as a timer and storage...

The only real bug I have so far is that the camera drains-out even the best rechargebles in less than 4 hours.... camera is constantly on, taking 1 shot every 5 mins...
