Proline mt-700 Tripod

I am new with a Pentex k10 digital. I was told to use Bogen tripod. Looking to speed less. I am looking at a Dolica Proline MT-700 8 LBS for $139. It is called a vidio trpod. I don't know what that is telling me. I don't do vidio.. Thank You for any help with this. Ken J.

Hi, Ken. It'll be Pen*tax,* not Pentex. Pentex would be bad.

As for video tripods, those are usually steady enough, which is the point of a tripod, though the heads may be a somewhat awkward style, and which may lack the ability to shoot verticals, since video cameras don't do that.

For that sort of price we can probably do better for you, though: Dolica's a budget brand that seems to be making people reasonably-happy for the money: a non-video model might help you.

(This thread ought to be in the 'Accessories' forum, they may move it.)

What kind of work are you looking to do with what sort of lens?

Geek speaking : yes, it would be bad.

There is a Dolica proline 62" tripod selling on amazon for around 40$ (sometimes less). It is generally regarded by forum members as the best alternative below 100$. I have a colleague who purchased an Induro tripod for 130$, on pictures it looks exactly the same as the Dolica. Since my Dolica is on order, soon enough we'll be able to compare.
