YN-560 Question

YN 560 Standard Hot Shoe Flash

Amazon.com: YN 560 Standard Hot Shoe Flash: Camera & Photo

They advertise this flash sometimes with Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Samsung, and others. I have noticed different prices with different ones but they are alll the same yn-560 or at least they look like it.

Is there really only one YN-560 or do they make special ones for different cameras? I was thinking it was the same and maybe they were hoping someone would hit the brand name on a search and pay an extra $5 - $7 without knowing.

So, again, is this the regular old YN-560? I was going to use it with Cactus v5, and a westcott softbox setup.

BTW, does PentaxForums have an amazon click through so that if I do get it they can get a cut?

Thanks.

Since it's a manual flash, my guess is that they have 2. One for standard hot-shoe and one for Sony/Minolta. I may very well be wrong. Just a guess.

Nonetheless, any manual flash with a standard hotshoe will work with pentax. The only caveat is if it has a high-trigger voltage, you need an adapter. Modern flashes are not a problem with regards to trigger voltage.

I think the YN560 has only one model for the moment, purely manual.

If you are using manual flash and receivers, synch voltage should not be an issue. The yn560 costs approx 70usd each. I use whatever old manual flash with similar manual functions (vivitar/sunpak/etc), 15usd each, used, I buy 3-4 when I see someone wants to upgrade theirs.

There's only one* Yongnuo YN-560, and this YN-560 will work with each different type of camera (except for Sony/Minolta since they use a non-standard Hot shoe). Flash triggering voltage isn't an issue either, and if I recall correctly, it's about ~3.6V. I've got five of these YN-560 flashes, and use them for my off-camera flash work.

*well, I know of two versions. There were the older ones, pre-December 2010, which came with a plastic hot shoe, and the newer, ones, which have a metal hot shoe and one or two changed internal components, and are apparently more reliable: 20110109 - 001 Yongnuo YN560s Compared | Flickr - Photo Sharing!.

How do you find the westcott kit? I've been looking at it online and like the price but reviews are hit and miss...
