I like my O-ME53 just fine... It's alot better than the standard eyepiece.

The weight on the magnifier FB is wrong. it weights only a few grams at worst. It is made mostly of plastic. I have one permanently attached on my pentax.

You are correct, it is a discontinued item. Might be hard to get now.

I got the nikon mag. eye piece over the pentax one, much cheaper, and I have it superglued on top of the original k100 eye piece and have black tape on the bottom to seal it. I like it. Tried the nikon piece by itself and it was a bit better but wasn't protruding from the body enough for my liking. So I tried it on top of the original, liked it, and stuck it on.
