GorillaPod Ballhead on full size tripod?

I currently have a very cheap tripod ($10) which does ok, but I'm looking to get a better one now. I also have a Jouby Gorillapod SLR zoom with the ballhead which is awesome to carrying around with me. I have about $150 to spend on a tripod and am wondering if I could use my Joby ballhead on a decent set of legs until I can get some more money for a decent head?

Also I'm looking at the Vanguard Alta Pro 263AT tripod. Does anyone have any opinions on them?

You may just want to verify what size mounting screw fits your Joby head, to make sure it will adapt. Better tripods use a 3/8 bolt while your head may only have a 1/4 socket, so you will want to know for sure.

That vanguard tripod is simply awesome. Especially when paired with the GH 100 pistol grip head.

Thanks for the replies. The Joby ball head has a 3/8 bottom thread so that shouldn't be a problem. I think I'll go ahead and get the Vanguard Alta Pro 263AT tripod without a head, and then get a better head in the future if I find that I need it. Now I just need to find the best price I can for it.
