M42 adapters in Australia?

Hi Guys,

So I've been on a bit of a LBA spree and lucky me, am now covered in m42 lenses. Unfortunately the m42 adapters that I ordered off ebay are from China. Which means, chances are they aren't going to arrive any time soon (I usually give them about a month to arrive).

I live just outside of Canberra, and believe it or not, Canberra isn't really a Camera Mecca.

I've already been to a few camera shops and they all look at me blankly or tell me to go to ebay to get an adapter.

I'm ITCHING to take some photos on these new lenses, and I wondered if anyone might have any recs on where I could get one sooner rather than later? I'm dying here....

I just received a genuine Pentax adapter from ebay sent to the US...from Australia. Sorry if it was the last one.

KEH.com has one listed for $41 USD -- at that price it must be the real Pentax version. I found it only after winning my auction for around the same amount. They will ship internationally, plus it will restore the trade balance I've messed up with my purchase.

JEEEEPERS. Just had a look at the linky. It's $60AUD on their website!! WTF?!

better go and get that adapter that vonBaloney pointed out to me on ebay after all.

I checked out KEH.com and they wanted over $50 to ship it international mail to Canada (that is in addition to the $41 cost). Seemed very excessive for something that can be put in a padded envelope.

I ended up getting an adapter from an ebay seller in the US. They charged me priority shipping which was $15. I'd have preferred first mail which I believe is less. Like you said, it'll fit into a padded envelope! Still, beggars can't be choosers, and honestly, if the thing's going for $60AUD in the COUNTRY (

), technically it's still cheap. But by golly... let's hope I only ever need one!

Although what on earth am I going to do with the three m42 adapters I've got coming from China in a month's time??

I paid roughly US$100 for mine (locally, original Pentax); could do it because I got a relative bargain on a FA31Ltd. Reading some of the stories here with non-genuine pentax, I'm glad I got the original.

If your chinese ones are not the genuine Pentax ones, I suggest that you try to do some research on the pittfalls (and work arounds) of using them.

I bought mine new locally a couple of years ago, from memory it was $75 or so. Not cheap, but as others have said it's worth getting over the non genuine adaptors.
wolfiegirl, howcome you ordered 3 Chinese ones?

I think just the one genuine adaptor will be fine.
