Adaptor for What ?

I purchased a lens case hoping I could use it with one of my cameras, and as a bonus I got an adaptor with it. I would like to know what it is for.
On the side not seen in the photo it has the letters “T-MIN JAPAN “ . It also has m42 threads on it.
The bayonet side pictured is to small to fit a “K” mount.

The "T" suggests it might be a t-ring for coupling to a telescope. Some generic long lenses also use t-threads. The threaded end goes onto telescope equipment while the bayonet fits some camera mount.

T-standard and Pentax M42 standard look similar because they are both 42mm. Thread pitches are different, though, so mating a T part with M42 might seem to fit but can bind and damage the threads.

That is a T-mount adapter...probably for Minolta ("T-Min" not to be confused with T-Max film). At least it looks like Minolta MC/MD mount to me. The M42 side mates to the lens. It is a different pitch than Praktica/Pentax M42 so don't try to mate the lens directly to an M42 body.

It did screw on a M42 lens without a problem, but it only went on a few threads. Thanks for the input!

Pentax M42 thread has a pitch of 1mm. T-Mount has a diameter of 42mm but a thread pitch of .75mm. Extremely close but it will damage the threads if forced.
