It's just screw threads between the lens and the adapter. Nothing there to get stuck.
I stuck my adapter on a lens for exactly the same reason and left it for a couple of weeks. When I went to retrieve it (mounted right way on lens) I similarly had a brief scare that it had become stuck. Probably you just can't get enough gription on the smooth ring (since you mounted the adapter backwards) to make it move. Try getting your fingers or something down under into the spaces where the bayonet lugs are and you should be able to get some extra grip going that way. I had to do that on mine, but fortunately they were out there exposed since I put the adapter on the normal way.
