Ok, here's an oddball question that I hope you'll take seriously.

We all know that an improved camera body, or that professional grade lens can make a big difference, but what about the smaller and less expensive stuff?

What item that you have purchased, or were given, that cost the least helped the most with your photography?

Rocket blower as Adam said, generic Flash diffuser for $3, generic lens hood for $4, generic lens caps for $3.... can you see a pattern here?

+1 on the remote control -- I got a generic one on Amazon < $10. Super-useful.

Also +1 on the remote (<$3 on ebay).

My 50mm M f1.7 ($20, including film camera), as well as my newly acquired 50mm A f1.7 ($20, including film camera, filters, bag, and other accessories!), are both pretty nice, too. Chalk one up for the K mount...I doubt that most brands could include lenses in such a thread!!!

I'm thinking about the value of each item...
cactus v5 flash triggers is probably the one...

I've a remote but hardly use it.

Another vote for the remote control. I'll also add the $2 tiny tripod.

It is amazing how handy this is for getting the photographer into a photo or bracing the camera.

Hi Doc,
I'd say one inexpensive item that has helped me a lot is an eyecup. The round or teardrop-shaped ones work equally well, but the round ones have the advantage when you shoot in vertical format.
Perhaps it's just me, but with the eyecup, my shots seem to be composed better and I "see" what I want more clearly in the viewfinder, if that makes sense.
About $5.00-$7.00 online.

Genuine. Purchasing an imitation can prove to be an exercise in false economy, as you may end up having to replace it with a genuine at some point anyway.
