Tried the menu settings, made no difference to operation. Wired remote focused in both modes.

Cheers. Mike.

If it works with your 100DS then check the menu , "AF with remote" enabled. Might do the trick.

Cheers, Mike.

This only effects the IR remote.

Thank you

Works great, but for some reason the AF won't work. I know my circuit is good and my connections are good.

I just can't get my K7 to AF with the Remote Cable Release port.
If it's not AFing, then it's not working great now is it?

I'd suggest checking your wiring and connections, and then checking it again; use a multimeter and check to make sure the contacts are right, and there's no wires touching where they shouldn't be, you've wired up the switches correctly, etc, etc. Otherwise, there's a slim chance that the actual cable release socket in the camera, but my bet would be your remote.

Nachodog,
I do not know for sure, I can't recall and I might be wrong, but isn't there an item, in the K20D's menu, that has to be set for engaging the AF by cable release? Perhaps it is the same for the K7, who knows…
Any way, the cable release I made a year ago from recycled parts from an old telephone is still performing very well, thanks to pop4!

Cable Release

Used a microchip 16c84(16f84) some years back to make a time base for
part of my home control system, have used as intervalometer on ZX-M
still have code if anyones interested. Has anyone ever gone beyond this
and added, say an old azimuth drive unit from a security app for pan/tilt?

I have a small flash cable adapter (mini jack to PC) and i just realized I can synchronize my K100 to my ME Super. ) I find it totally useless but totally amusing at the same time.

Are both the AF and Shutter release switches normally open?
