A couple of comments. I've had iPad's since the iPad1 came out, and I am writing this on an iPad3 - and iPad's have pretty much replaced laptops, books and about 10 Kg of paper that I used to lug around (my work means that I travel more than what is good).
1) EyeFi works quite well with the iPad2 and iPad3, both.
2) Alas, I do not use EyeFi much with the iPad. I synch from my camera to my iPhone (I do not always lug around the iPad) and have it via PhotoStream spread the pictures to my iPad and my iPhoto at home.
3) The iPad3, alas, tends to run through battery a LOT faster than the iPad2.
4) The iPad2 also takes longer to charge.
5) I've acquired a Logicool keyboard-case, and I'm using that -- after testing about half a dozen or so iPad. It's possible to get to decent typing speed on the on-screen keyboard, and for the odd email and such I will use it. But, for longer typing sessions, I like to not use half the screen for a keyboard.
6) This probably isn't quite the right place, but there're two applications that really should be integrated with the iPad system software: GoodReader and NotesPlusApp. Go look them up, they've changed my work-life
