Bad lens or bad polerizer

I just found out that a cheap polerizer wil not allow photos to be clear when using a Zoom lens and a cheaper Polerizer. I just move up to $109 from a $25 dollar one and all my photos are clear. And i thought it was the lens that was bad. I never knew this.

Could you post a couple of examples? I am having a difficult time - it actually makes my head hurt, understanding how a polarizer works at one focal length and does not work at yet another? These are circular polarizers?

I am using a $5 Hoya linear polarizer and have yet to experience any negative with it.

I wonder if it is that you had a linear polarizer rather than the cost of the polarizer specifically? I know linear polarizers can have issues with autofocus systems. I don't have any linear polaizers myself, so I'm not sure that is true, but if it is, then this could be the problem.
