Got the tripod in this afternoon, but to say I'm a bit disappointed in it already. It is very light, and I'm afraid that this isn't going to work. Because the weight is about, to me it feels like 1 to 2lbs, even though the specs say 3lbs 12oz. The legs are kind of spindly, and since I do a lot of photographing around water and wind, I don't think this will hold up under heavy winds. I will use it for a few days around the yard, but if it doesn't hold up, it's going back and I'll look for something else. Specs say this tripod was designed to handle equipment weighing under 6lbs, 10ozs. My beast I know weighs close to that, the K-x weighs 1.28lbs. If I mount these on the tripod it might just tip over.

I have 30 days for a full refund.

Well, the Manfrotto 190XB which you originally wanted is indicated a now in Stock at B&H.

Its still got the $25 rebate as long as you buy by June 30th, but if you're actually getting it from B&H (link from the post above) then you'd better hop to it in Friday morning before they close up for Friday evening / Saturday.

Now its the sturdier Slik one, the 700DX which is out of stock

For the support weight rating, what is it that everyone says? Go for at least DOUBLE the weight of your heaviest load as a minimum.

The other thing they say you want is 1)Reasonable price , 3)Strong , 3)Light . You can only pick 2 of those.

I hadn't heard that before. My first tripod I bought in 2000 cost me a lot more than this one I got yesterday, it was a Bogen 3221W, a wilderness tripod, center column that I could remove in order to go low to the ground, it was heavy fully loaded, tripod, coupled with pistol grip head, and either my K1000 or ZX-5n. But I was a lot younger and a lot stronger back then and had no problem carrying it up a mountain to shoot.

If I could find a way to stop the leg creep, I'd just keep this Bogen I've been using. It's sturdy enough to handle just about any rig. Though I want to get another head, this small head I have worked fine until I got the Samyang 100-500mm, now the option to tilt the camera vertical, has become a nuisance because it does not tighten down straight back in its original position, my camera isn't level, it tilts down. I don't know how to explain what it does any other way.

Leg creep on the Bogen has been gone for the last week or two. I have decided to return the Slik. Got my RMA today and will ship it prepaid as defective (B&H decided) tomorrow.
