New Kata Revolver Bag - built-in revolving magazine for lenses

Interesting.

It just won a 2012 Red Dot Design Award.

Haven't seen it available in the US yet, supposed to be in HK in early August.

(Picture 2 is hilarious... I'm not surprised he looks super serious, he's probably already got water in his mirror box!)

Picture #2 is hilarious! I used to run a white water outfitter and if one of the contract photographers had done what he is doing they would have had their last day with us. Non-waterproof case, with ALL his lenses, open camera body hanging down, looking outward and not at what he is doing, etc., etc., etc.

I love Kata! I have the old version of the DR 467 and the matching camera straps. Other than my Kelly Moore Bag (that I use as a lens bag to shoot out of at weddings), my kata is my favorite. I also think most of their products are reasonable, especially compared to that crumpler bag that I have never used

It does appear that the inserts turn inside the bag. It seems like a good idea, but I am guessing it takes a little practice. I could see myself not turning the bag up enough and turning so a lens spins right out. It does solve the easy access issue while on a hike or out sports shooting without giving up some protection that a shoot sac or the like sacrifice on.

Yes, it appears that the lenses are like bullets in a revolver, except that instead of being parallel to the axis, they radiate out (like a radial engine's pistons).

It's a good idea to only have to open a small portion of a bag to get at several lenses, but I'd like to see it in practice.

It's so new, there aren't even any YouTube reviews or demos yet.
