I assume your question is in reference to the primary Pentax camera in the household, and not other devices like video cameras, or inactive Pentax cameras sitting around.

I only use one because that's all I need at the moment, when I get my battery grip, that's when I'll get one more. For now I need to save up for a af 540 fgz first then a DA* 16-50 afterward.

It's not the number of cards, it should be number of Giga bytes.
I have few cards, but 32G each, and backup is 16G.... For 5 bodies, eh, i should get ridd of the canon and the nikon....

I would STRONGLY recommend that you have at least one backup SD card of high quality. The SanDisk Class 10 Extremes are not terribly expensive for the 16gb version these days. The reason is that SD cards can, and do, go bad - often at the worst possible moment.

# of Gigs is not the main measure. Larger cards are cool for bragging rights but when one goes bad, and they do, you loose a LOT more than if you were using a more modest size card. I have stopped at 16gb cards and have 4 of those, 4 8bg cards - all 8 of those are Class 10 cards, and a few smaller cards of varying speeds that are relegated to utility tasks these days.

I have a large collection of small - 2 and 4gb - cards. Never been one for having all my eggs in one basket. A full 16gb+ card is a lot to lose if full!

I also back up in the field to a hard disk based 'Photo Bank', then to a netbook in my car, before making three more back-ups at home before erasing card, Photo Bank and netbook.

Ok, oot, but never lost an image yet! (But, take lots of bad ones

)

Variety of cards for digitaj photo frames, k20, k5, s5is(not that I use that much if at all nowadays) some XD cards for my Fujis, biggest is a 32Gb, tend to use 8 or 16 mostly, some Sandisk, quite a few Transcend, miscellaneous other cards

I have about a dozen SD and micro SD cards spread out between several devices that use them. Plus one XD and a CF flash that I use in pocket cams. I just recently got my first SD card above 8GB. $8 shipped for a 16GB was just too tempting though I'm generally speaking not a person who likes more than 4/8GB on a card. I'd rather have more cards than more GB on one card. I don't trust one big card that well that I'd want to rely on it all the time. Most of my cards are 1-2 GB actually. I have a couple of 4 and 8 GB cards and now the 16GB card but I doubt I'd ever go much higher than that.

I've flirted with a 32GB card a few times but I'm a bit leery of going there. I think I'd rather just have more 4GB, 8GB cards or maybe another 16GB card instead. Most of the larger GB cards are for the K-x though. I mostly use the 1 and 2 GB cards for my MP3 player though I do have a couple of 2GB ones and one 1GB one in my camera kit.

I'm running about 40 GB all total for the cameras I think. That's an unbelievable amount of space for me compared to what I used to shoot with when I had my Fuji S7000. I had all of 2GB's spread out over 4 /512MB cards for 7 years using that camera, and I was actually shooting RAW most of the time too...

I've got cards for all kinds of gadgets, MP3 players, e-readers, thumb drives, cameras. I use 3 32gb cards for most of my camera work, rotating them around, with 3 back up 16GB's. I never have filled a 16 GB card in one day's shooting much less a 32, but they are pretty cheap, and sometimes downloads at work can take up to 25 or 30 GB (NYC subway trains have LOTS of data) and it's nice to have the capacity if I need it. Besices I still have cards going back a ways; several 256MB cards, some 512s and a few 1gbs.

4 * 16GB Adata Class 10s, nippy enough but I managed to fill all of them in one session last week (RAW+ mode Jpeg +++) for a friend's baby's christening. It was mainly the party afterwards getting candids

, party lasted 7 hours. Anyways I was thinking of upgrading to 32GB jobs soon enough but will wait for the K-5's successors spec first to see what it supports.
