Diffuser for AF 200T flash?

It's a nice little unit that does TTL on the 645, but I haven't been able to find a diffuser for that design. I want something that will let some of the light project forward and some to reflect up to bounce off of ceiling. Is there anything out there that will work with it?

I have a diffuser here called "AFW1". But I do not have an AF200T
According to the AF200T manual , page 24 ( see Butkus) , "AFW1" is a wide angle adaptor for AF200T

I'm afraid you'll likely need to make something yourself. Not too hard to do.

Otherwise, there are adjustable 'universal' items out there, and the flash light parts are not going to be all that variable in size, so you might be able to adapt something as well.

Why not try Stofen. In ordering there, you supply your flash model details and they match a diffuser to your unit. Your model? who knows but you could try them.

STO-FEN Store

But then, maybe you have tried them already

The AF200T doesn't tilt, so to make something so that "some of the light project forward and some to reflect up to bounce off of ceiling" is not simple. By the time someone comes with a design that can achieve that, it's so clumsy that you don't want it.

Get a flash with a bounce and swivel head. There are plenty of reasonable prices: Pentax AF280T, Sunpak 422D, 444D, 30DX, 36DX, Vivitar 3500, 3500, 5200, 5600,.....

It's actually not that hard to build one. Cover a card the width of the flash lens with AL foil and tape it to the flash body at 45 so it prevents the flash from lighting the subject directly (also make sure that it doesn't cover the sensor on the flash. This will reflect the light straight up. Tape another card to the top of the gun at an angle slightly towards your subject. This will bounce some of the light directly at the subject. Vary the angle of this card to adjust the direct light ratio. Costs next to nothing, weighs next to nothing. . .

You can make a more professional unit by using an acrylic mirror and white plastic for the bounce card and using Velcro, either self stick or straps to attach them. . .

Scott

Edit-- forgot it's TTL -- forget about the "sensor on the flash" part. . .

Yes Scott that's a good idea-may try it. But I will probably get the AF280T. I can be found at reasonable price and does bounce and swivel. That will be a good TTL flash for my 645.

By the way, here's a good link to the owners manuals of many Pentax flashes.

I got a AF280T from KEH. Haven't tried it with the 645, but it looks like it's going to be a good bounce and swivel TTL flash for that body.
