Remote for Pentax K5 IIs

Hi

Does the K5 IIs use the same remote and cable release as the K5?

The K5 IIs manual doesn't address this.

Yes. As far as I know all Pentax cameras can use the same remote. Cable release is generic, as long as it has the correct jack.

Everything is the same as the K-5 interface-wise, so yes

Hi Jim 177,

I recently tried to buy a designated cable release for my Pentax K200D. The cost was going to be about $80 Aus. The supplier contacted me to inform they did not have the Pentax release in stock, but could supply me with a Canon RS60-E3 cable release for about $20 Aus. This cable release works fine with both the K200D and my recently purchased K5IIs. I have a designated Pentax remote, which works with both cameras. Hope this helps.

Cheers WH4

One more hint... If you need more reach for your cabled remote release, buy a female 2.5mm stereo to male 3.5mm stereo adapter, and a female 3.5mm stereo adapter to a male 2.5mm stereo adatper - then you can use fairly inexpensive 3.5mm stereo headphone extension cables for the longer run.

I was shooting fireworks a week and a half past. The camera was on a tabletop tripod on the hood of my car. I was inside my closed car and away from the biting insects holding the remote release. It worked very nicely.

Thanks Jim

Great idea! I'll follow up.

Thanks

The canon cable releases work. My old one broke, so I bought a new generic canon one a few weeks ago. Works perfect on the k5 and the IIs.
