how to get radio trigger to fire from k100D?

I must be missing something obvious. I bought an eBay radio trigger setup, which includes the RF-616 transmitter that sits on the hotshoe, and a receiver that connects into a hotshoe adapter for the flash. Putting everything together and firing the test button does indeed fire the remote flash.

But how the heck do you tell the darned camera you want the flash to fire when taking a picture?

I think, you have to put the camera in M mode and set the shutter speed to 1/180 or less. 1/180 is the highest flash trigger speed for K100D.
This is because the trigger cannot transmit P-TTL data....
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

Ah yes, shutter speed. My brain was on vacation there.

Thanks!

The camera will happily supply a sync pulse to the shoe even when the shutter speed is over 1/180, at least when it cannot detect the presence of a flash (this is the case for wireless triggers and flashes that have no dedication features such as the Sunpak 383 and Vivitar 285HV).

Of course, if you fire a flash with a shutter speed over 1/180, the flash will not cover the whole frame.

the ebay triggers tend to lose a stop or so in max sync speed. The flash will fire at 1/180.......now, having the entire frame exposed is a different story. The best I've been able to get is 1/125.

But in this case I have confirmed the flash will only fire when the shutter speed is 1/180 or less. Just for those keeping track!

BTW, for €40 I had a 16-channel transmitter, two receivers and two hotshoe adapters shipped to my door in Ireland from the USA in less than a week. The eBay seller is photogearok. Based on this I would have to recommend them!

Same here. 1/160 or 1/180 result in partial frame cutoff with the Gadget Infinity triggers for me.
