FluCard

Can anyone please tell me if the Pentax FluCard is available in Australia, where and cheapest ?

I want the wifi connection for my K-5 but also want the tethering for when I eventually buy my K-3 II.

AFAIK it will not be released until spring. I think I saw March date but who knows if that is final or not.

It's not released yet due to delays. Too bad, but I hope Pentax gets it right once it comes out!

Even dumping the whole project would be less of a public relations nightmare than releasing something that does not work or works poorly. I hope they take their time and get it right.

It seems Ricoh is bundling a special now with the K3 and the flucard:

Pentax Price Watch - PentaxForums.com

Amazon has was seems to be the same card as on the Ricoh site:

Amazon.com: Trek Flucard 8GB: Computers & Accessories

The only review at Amazon for this particular 8gb card is a "one star" negative which says that using the card for wifi transfers of data quickly ran the battery down in several cameras tested.

I don't know if the Pentax flucard will be any different from the above card at Amazon but it may be necessary to add external power for any extended usage. I was looking forward to controlling the K3 remotely while it is outside, so hooking up external power to the camera could pose problems.

It will be different. The official "Pentax 16GB O-FC1" Flucard will do things a standard WiFi Flucard won't, like allow camera remote control via an Android app.

When it is released.

I ordered one yesterday. An email today states they are expecting the first shipment to arrive in Melbourne on 15th March.

Thanks for the heads up, deaning.

I'm a bit concerned that it's being offered here for $199.95AU, while Adorama lists it for $99.95US = $111.44AU, plus 10% GST = $122.58AU. It's a shame Adorama can't ship this item outside the US, because I doubt it would cost $76.42AU to post something that small.
