Gigapan- ever used one?

GigaPan Store | Panoramic Heads | Pano Heads | Panoramic Tripod Heads

Saw this while cruising online today. Thought it looked pretty awsome for what it does BUT it looks like a heck of a load to carry around, on top of being expensive. Anyone ever use one? If so is it worth the $$?

I rented the Epic Pro. It's a really nice piece of equipment. If I needed one again I'd buy it this time. I used it with my K-5 - works great with one of the cables (the Canon xTi cable, IIRC). I don't think you can get away with using one of the cheaper ones with a DSLR.

One thing's for sure - people will instantly think you're a pro when you're out using it, and ask for your business card, etc. So if you need a little photography related business, or want to get more, it's worth the investment just for the exposure you'll get.

I thought it looked super cool. I am trying not to be geeky but I REALLY REALLY want one after watching the video and seeing it work.

I have one and love it. It is very easy to use as well in my opinion. It's a bit of a beast though, so a very sturdy tripod is necessary. I've taken it on some long hikes and it can get pretty heavy. DSims is right about attracting attention while using it.

For me it's worth it. I don't use it that frequently, but when the opportunity presents itself I'm glad I have it. A couple of my favorite images were taken using the Epic Pro. If you can handle the price, I say go for it!
