Memory Card Question

I had a Sony 16gb SD card in my K-5, the camera indicated that the memory was full so I backed the files up to an external hard drive, but the computer indicated that the files were only 8.32gb. Is it normal for a 16gb card to only hold 8gb of data?

If your using a Mac, empty your trash when your card is connected. Macs will allow "trash" to be stored on removable drive (in a hidden folder). I'm not sure about Windows.

Back up files. Format card in camera. Check capacity.
